oh, hah.

yeah, i was just on midway and basically everything i looked at is either out of stock or real expensive.

what's the story?

I think it has to do with Horn Dog's "gun salesman of the year" poster. While ammo seems okay where I live, both gun stores (yes, two in a California college town of all places) said they have had a hard time keeping center fire handguns in stock because of the panic buying. I hope this panic buying is all for nothing. After all, I'm pretty sure we still go by the Constitution, which the US Supreme Court ruled ensures private handgun ownership.

they may take a lotta 9mm and 5.56, but not .45lc.

Yeah, and I don't imagine a .380 acp, which people can't seem to find, being a popular military round either.

With the way gun and ammo sales have been booming, I think we can safely assume those who work for these companies are enjoying economic conditions right now!

I don't think there is much they can do about guns anymore. It is ammo they are after now, my dealer said re-loading will no longer be an option soon, and I've heard all sorts of rumors from 5-year primers, to serial numbered rounds.

Enjoy every sandwich.

GAH! What is this country coming to! I've heard that here in Cali they might start background checks every time you buy ammo! Absurd! We, as citizens of this country have been granted the right to own guns and ammo in order to defend ourselves from a corrupt government (as well as anything that threatens our lives)! When is enough, enough? Do people not understand that making it harder for law abiding citizens to purchase guns and ammo does not make criminals care any more about the laws? After all, what kind of criminal thinks, "I want to commit a crime, but I'm going to avoid a 'black market' gun purchase because that's unethical!" What is wrong with people?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I should probably stop typing for a minute so I can cool down on this subject.

Reloading components have sky rocketed lately too. I have given up on looking for small rifle and small pistol primers. Bullets are outrageous too.

I know the Constitution says that we have the right to keep and bare arms; but, ammo is a different thing. I fear the goons in Washington have figured that out. Between BATFE not signing import lic. for cheaper European ammo, the lack of domestically loaded ammo, and the gun salesman of the year we are in for a tough and rough time.

my mayor's after the guns. my local precinct, one block away, takes 45 minutes to get officers to my house in response to a drunk with a bat.

NJ is a toilet.

Hmmm... I guess it's off to the gun store tomorrow to buy some .380 acp's tomorrow!

After hearing what all of you have said, I understand more now why my dad sent off 350 .44 Mag shells and purchased 150 more shells to get a total of 500 .44 mag shells reloaded. The funny thing is that he's only shot about 60 of these rounds through his .44 mag!

Also, how does ammunition not fall into the category of keep and bare arms? Isn't ammo a necessary part of "arms?" Through using common sense, (something that's hard to come by these days) I'd have to say that it only makes sense that ammunition is part of the "arms."

As to domestically manufactured ammo I have a theory on that too. When metal prices were so high, ammo manufacturers only bought enough to get by on. Now there is a lack of ammo from the lack of purchased materials. It will take time to build up inventory of supplies.

I know a lot of people blame the military on the shortage too--nah, ain't buying that. Those contracts are set and agreed on way ahead of time. The ammo manufacturers know what they need for that.

New shooters, ok, maybe some of the problem. I know people who have bought a gun, or guns. since BHO was elected. Hence the salesman of the year.

lastly, I believe the ammo manufacturers did not want to get caught with a lot of inventory in case something does get flushed down the Washington pipe.

Just my opinion.
