Sumo - you're welcome! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> As far as the Falklands, I found it interesting that Mrs. Thatcher showed more courage than many of her male counterparts. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

I remember growing up and watching Mrs. Thatcher on the t.v. She was a great leader just like Reagan was a great leader for us. We need world leaders like them again.

Holy handgun ammo! So for those who didn't read an earlier post, I recently got a Hi-point .380 acp. (I know, cheap, but it shoots) So in reading more about how people are having one heck of time finding any .380 acp ammo, let alone at an affordable price, I decided I should pick some more up from the local indoor range/gun store. I got some Blazer ammo on Monday from them, and shot all of those at the range. Those were two boxes of 50 at $15 a piece. Well, I decided to call up another local gun shop to find out what they have in stock. They had some left, but they're asking $30 for a box of 50! Well, I quickly got in my car and bought two boxes of the cheaper stuff from the indoor range. They have some better stuff at $19 per box of 50, so I'll get some of those later. This ammo shortage is ridiculous!

Yes, ammo is in short supply everywhere, it seems. I read somewhere that manufacurers are making it as fast as they can, but since the election of Obama, demand has been higher than anyone has ever seen it. Do all these ammo horders know something we don't know?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I'm hoping it's just speculation, too, but what some of the anti gun nuts want to do worries me.

I bought such a cheap gun because it's my first gun and I'm still in school. I don't want it to be my last because of the rising cost of ammo.

Anyone hear that the federal government isn't selling spent shells to ammo companies any more? I read somewhere that they're scrapping it all instead in order to make less ammunition available for the public. One would think they would continue to sell the shells because I'd imagine they'd get more money for that than they would by just recycling the brass. Given the financial situation of the federal government, they need all the extra money they can get. If what I read is true, they're just making the public mad and "shooting themselves in the foot." Ironic phrase!

Not all ammo is in short supply....only the "defensive" stuff, 9mm, .45acp, .380acp, 5.56mm, 7.62x39...12ga... .22 rimfire, etc... at least around here....

.380 is nuts because all of the new concealed permit holders seem to gravitate toward the micro "mouseguns"..

Here in Florida, they are backlogged 90,000 CCW permits...

Oh! I see! That makes sense as to why the indoor range had a fair share of .380 acp ammunition here. In California it's pretty tough to get a concealed carry license. I think that part of the application process requires presenting a "need" for the license to the Sheriff's department (I think you get them by what county you're in) and having them approve your "need." Where I live, unless I regularly put my life on the line where a concealed gun would help reduce the risk, I'll never be able to get a concealed carry license.

On the "mouseguns" note, I guess this means people don't prefer to conceal carry a .50AE Desert Eagle like P-easy has then! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Don't get me wrong.... I have a Ruger LCP .380... a "mousegun". I can carry it in my shirt pocket....(I keep it in my front pants pocket) and up close and personal with a zombie... lead poisoning is a reality for them.... It is a great chioce for personal "up close" defense....and I am a devout .45 acp guy...
but the ammo is pricey around here....I like the hydroshok and the black Talon ammo...and I want to try some of the newer stuff that is out there...

"Mousegun" is a term used by Massad Ayoob in his writings... and even he is respectful of the advantages of the .380 in the newer concealable "mousegun" offerings....

Doc - Howdy and Welcome to the ScrapYard! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> On the ammo front, I checked the WalMarts we encountered between home and western Illinois, and they are all short on supply. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif" alt="" /> Fortunately, I have one or two boxes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
