I've had a few, they are nice and throw well. There are some neat mods that have been done.
I sand and stain my handles and polish the edge and "hammer" side.
Currently, I am looking for a much longer set screw so I can really achor the head to the handle.

I have one. i beat the bit further to the tip of the haft, convexed the edge, gave it two cord wraps in black and orange, and woodburned it with a vine of life.
it bites real deep, but the edge is pretty short so you better have good control. a 10" bowie will be more forgiving of inaccuracy, but doesn't penetrate as well.

Got one of these to mod pretty soon. Plan on taking the head off and working the edges down on the inside of the eye; sand, burn, and stain the handle; drill a hole for a lanyard; wrap the handle; work on the edge; strip the nasty paint off; and get a longer allen head screw.

inside the head, to the haft. i did it recently and seemed like the perfect choice since it expands. i haven't tested it yet but it lasted a year without any jiggle before i glued it.

Mine was fine until I started throwing it then it head starting coming off. That is whey I'm going to get a longer set screw. I epoxyed one head too but it broke loose pretty quick too.
I think the longer screw will fix the problem and then as long as I have an allen wrench around I could switch out the head fairly easy.

Thanks for the idea of the GG. I was thinking a longer screw, one that would go through at least 1/2 the thickness of the handle will do the job. I am hoping this will turn into a nice fun little project that I can use out and about.
If all else fails, Gransfor Burke or Whitterlings here I come!
