I just posted my "I'll take it" on a bird dog for sale... now just waiting to get info to send payment....
Anyone else noticed there are some really good deals going on the BF exchange recently? Lots of stuff selling below cost, which isn't supposed to happen with Bussekin blades I cannot think of any Busse-made knife better suited to be a fishing knife. The Bird Dog LE was designed as a fishing and small game knife. The combination of the Res C mudder handle and super edge holding and corrosion resistant 154CM is perfect. The BDLE has replaced even my SS4 as my favorite fixed blade for EDC when hiking. It's a great little knife for light weight carry, especially with Rainwalker kydex to protect me from that wicked little point. Edited: Ooh, I just saw the BDLE with that cool leather/kydex sheath. That is a nice setup, MM. Congrats.

You will be pleasantly surprised by that sheath.

With all this talk about the SS, I stopped by the Busse store to take a look at the "freak." I must say that to me, based on looks, it isn't appealing. I know it was mentioned that the helicopter guys like it. What's the reasoning behind that. What uses does this design lend itself to. Knotslip mentioned fishing...is that because of the straight edge? Not being a fisherman, why wouldn't an S5 be good for fishing? Too long a blade? Poi D- S5 wouldn't be a good knife for fishing - especially salt water because of corrosion issues. The SR-101 isn't stainless and is prone to rust. Also- the blade shape and size isn't as good for the agile cutting tasks necessary in fishing at times. The SS looks like it would make a good fishing knife to an extent - but the hookbill blade might not be as good for cutting bait and other things on a flat surface. Not sure about the helicopter guys uses- maybe cutting rope and lilnes, etc. as hookbills are good for that stuff. The knife MM pipcked up looks like a great fishing knife though- wish I would have seen that post. Maybe I can find another- otherwise I'll be going with the Spydie and the H-1 steel.

You could use the SS for fishing...like using a wrench as a hammer. Your AquaSalt is a sound idea. Its a little lite for my taste , but man it cuts!! Its my use first , break first blade...my S5 will be its backup. Zero rust so far. Nice sheath. Good product for its purpose.
