lol I enjoyed seeing the original Spock, I really enjoyed about everything about it and all the references to the series were great.

I guess too many of those travel commercials kinda killed it for William Shatner.

I thought it was disappointing. I was really looking forward to it too! The problem was the whole time travel plot theme. I bloody hate time travel plots. They piss me off to no end. Leonard's dentures blinded me. The whole coincidence scene with kirk being chased by a big invertebrate (on ice?) was dumb and then he surprise finds his rescuer. The fact that there was an enterprise base station right there with another character present was also disappointing.

I mean come on, its like the writers just started shooting the movie got to that part of the show and lost any sensible script, then they started making up the plot as they went along.

Three thumbs down (even the green chick was a disappointment!)

Im not sure if im gonna see this movie or not. It looks cool but ive never been to fond of star trek.

I did manage to catch the midnight showing of " Terminator:Salvation " I must say that was a good movie. If your a fan of the other 3 movies your gonna love this one.

One of the highest rated fan favorite star trek movies is st4 - which revolved around another time travel storyline. When the Enterprise series finally started getting good and winning over old fans, it was due to a long time travel story arc. Time travel of one sort or another appeared in just about "version" of star trek over the years.

Time travel is a long-standing tradition in the plot of star trek, and personally, as both a physicist who has pondered these issues in formal class settings, and a science fiction geek, I LOVE the way the star trek films approach time travel. They actually address some of the paradoxes and deeper questions posed by time travel, instead of just glossing over or ignoring them.




By comparison, I find the treatment of time travel in the Terminator films to be absolutely ludicrous, and although I enjoy them thoroughly for their kickass action and robot war, I always have a lot of trouble suspending disbelief when the time travel rules are so completely random and inconsistent.


PS - the new terminator movie was definitely entertaining. For one, because there was no time travel in it, so no chance for them to goof things up with that again. For two, because it pretty much only referenced the second (and best) and first film in the series, and completely ignored the events of the mediocre tv show and the horrible third movie.
