I like my work but the owners are weak.

Just because you are doing everthing that you are capable of doing does not mean you are doing a good job. Some people will never understand this.

I can keep going but I'm sure you guys hae experienced the limitations you find at various jobs.

I'm in the same situation. I'm happy with my career and my field, just not where I am. I also work for children. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbdn.gif" alt="" />

I asked about my vacation time last week and the request was ignored. I'm asking about it again and if I get the wrong answer I will just give them my two weeks notice instead.

Yeah, I just got home from work, and I'm pretty sure that the experiment I stayed until after 10 pm to start is going to be complete crap. So basically I worked a 12 hour shift for absolutely nothing, seeing as how I'm salaried and don't get paid overtime.

SO ready to move out of research-focused academia.

I make movies for children, but my boss and the owner are two twelve year-olds (figuratively speaking <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />)

Right now I'm studying polymer physics, in the past I did fluid dynamics.

yeah, just finished my PhD this year. Not sure what else to do outside academia, either. Right now I'm searching for more teaching focused jobs. The pay sucks, but I enjoy teaching.

i'm a teacher.

no phd... i teach high school math, and deal with the bottom of the barrel kids, but i love it.

with a phd in physics (i'm assuming it is physics, no?) are there not think-tank or engineering, or possibly bio-medical or ??? jobs that might exist?
