She does mostly portraits of her friends and animals.

I wouldn't worry too much about good programs for photographers. If the programs are inadequate, there are lenty of other ways to learn, from assisting to doing it on your own. Most pros learned on their own, like I did. It's a perfectly workable route, as long as she's driven.

I hope she will always enjoy it as a hobby at the least

I've heard said that the surest way to kill the enjoyment of photography is to do it for a living. Perhaps I'm just a weirdo, but I still enjoy it. At least, I enjoy making pictures. I don't always enjoy sales, marketing, and the paperwork of running a business.

Anyway, I hope she continues to enjoy. It's certainly possible.
