Hey Evolute, I know that you probably don't do much with the "Point and shoot" cameras, but my wife and I cruse a National Wildlife refuge a lot and my wife LOVES taking pictures of the animals. At present she has an olympus SP 570 UZ. She's always wanted a cannon and now I see they have a 20zoom point and shoot out. What do you think about it? Should I get it for her or just keep on using the Olympus. She does NOT use the full capabilites of the Olympus but does like the long lens and SOME of the preset settings. She does not want a real complicated to operate camera, that's why I have not already bought her a SLR digital. I don't know. I'm not familiar with those cameras, nor your wife's personality, nor her photography needs. I can't really offer useful advice, here.
