Hi all, need a 4 season bag for backpacking, the one I have just isnt warm enough in the winter. Id like 15F or 0F rated, I dont think I really need a sub 0 bag. What do you all like? Factors for me are: cost, weight, compressability.

I don't have any fancy bags, but I know that Wiggy's is reputed to be the best although pricey. Sometimes you can find a good deal at Sportsmans Guide. For reference you could check Campmoor or REI. Good luck, and let us know what you end up with. Tom

Thanks for the leads bud
I dont think the Wiggly bag is in the budget for me right now.
However, the Sportsmans Guide seemed to have some reasonable deals. I guess now I have to decide on this question: is half the weight worth double the price? I'm pretty sure the answers yes. But can I afford double the price after that new scrapper 6...think not.

You're certainly welcome! I'm not a back-packer, but over the years have accumulated several types of bags. From military ECW bags to lighter Colemans, and one small emergency bag that I leave in my truck. They all have their places. By the way, you might check-out eBay for bags. That's where I got my ECW bags at a great price. Tom

Many places on the east coast. Mannnnnnnnny places on the east coast sometimes dip down to 0F and the record low for many of the places popular for backpacking is well below 0. Dont want to get caught with my pants down. I've been underbagged before and there are very few things less pleasant. When you simply cant stop shivering, you loose a lot of energy and moral. Ruins the hike and then you just want to go home.

Anyways, got the ebay bag Ill let you know how it goes.

I'm glad that you got your bag! Once you receive it you'll just have to plan a trip to check it out.
