Yes, edge profile and the angle at which each blade made contact with the bone are important factors. Hitting the bone at different angles can cause different degrees of lateral stress on the edges.

> Diceman,
i think you had too many egg rolls!

> Magnum22, Dark Norseman,
yeah i saw that 3 knife comparo.. looks like he re-profiled that edge pretty darn Acute! SS4 edges are pretty thin from factory.. imo he shouldn't have thinned it out that much, just sharpened it. And fresh bone's pretty hard too.. calcium, etc. That older Howler he was using was modded pretty nicely.

> kwan_918,
I've chopped my DF full-force into Hardwood, entire length of blade from tip to back just to make sure! (after that chipping incident on BF) I've batoned it thru hardwood until i've broken several batons! No edge rolling at all. won't shave any more, but still cuts paper. i've haven't sharpened yet, don't have a proper strop, i just 'strop' on a dry cordura BDU belt to get the crud off.

You can damage any knife blade if you re-profile the edge thin enough. Not knowing the edge angles, it's hard to draw much of a conclusion from that test other than the Fallkniven got dull pretty darn fast in comparison to the other two knives.

The Howling Rat is a really nice knife Kwan. Welcome to the Yard!
