I find that I always end up using a few different progams to do stuff. It's kind of like tools in a toolbox. Screwdriver here and a mallet over here.. They all have their place.

Not just for pictures but audio and video. I use 3 differnt browsers for the Internet. 4 if you count my phone...

i always hear different views about it. i hear some say that you have to be good at Photoshop to be a professional photographer. over the years it seems like i see more and more pictures that just look like they had to be altered by photoshop. but i dont know one thing about photoshop, maybe those pictures arent altered and they really just look unreal.

T, I asked a similar question about PS and Mike said (and rightfully so) MOST people don't need a full photoshop to work on their pictures. I THINK he said Elements would be just fine MOST of the time.

You don't have to be good at PS to be a pro photographer, but it can help.

Serious picture alteration into fictional images, through digital editing with Photoshop, is popular these days. It doesn't especially appeal to me.

As the saying goes: Garbage in, garbage out.

Good photography is a matter of thought, care, diligence, photo skill and talent. Digital editing abilities may be helpful, but are secondary, for photography.

I prefer to make authentic captures which show actual events of light transmission/light reflection. For me, there is power in reality and truth.

There is also power in art which shows fictions and imaginative flights of fancy. However, I think that trying to pass them off as reality is remiss.

Evo. As you said, I like picture pictures. Fiction pictures are OK if they are labeled as fiction photos and not passed off as "natural" YOUR PICTURES ROCK!!!!!
