Info for fellow dogs. I know there's a few BC dogs on here.
Moderators, if this is in the wrong area, please feel free to move it to
the appropriate area. Thanks.

July 18th 2009.
There's a forest fire burning in the Glen Rosa area of West Kelowna.
3 homes are already burned and up to 1000 more are at risk.
3000 people have been evacuated.
The news reports say high winds have fanned the blaze from
15 hectares to over 50 hectares as of 6 pm this evening.
An additional 1500 homes in the area are without power because
of the blaze.

Hopefully the damage will be kept to a minimum and that no one
gets hurt.

A couple of months ago, there was a discussion about the state of
the forests in British Columbia, and I recall that Bushman and I
mentioned that there was the potential for disaster due to the
huge tree kill caused by the pine beetle.

The situation hasn't changed much in the time in between, other than the
temperature getting hotter and the forests getting dryer.

My prayers are going out to the folks in Kelowna.

Hopefully, it won't get worse, but the potential exists for things
to get far worse.

Man, that is not good for those living in the line of fires. My prayers go out to them.

aw crap man!

I recall the conversation you and I had about this very subject.....the entire area is a powderkeg right now. For those of you in the USA and elsewhere, our forests are DRY, very dry. It literally takes nothing more than a cigarette ember spark to light up the forests into an inferno. Heck even the 4x4 guys and ATV riders are being warned by the Forestry Crews to stay out of the woods, because fires are being lit by the heat of the catalytic converters toughing dry wood or grass.

scary times. The mountian pine beetle has made MILLIONS of acres of DENSE forest into DEAD, DRY fire bombs.

Keep me updated DOTD, heck i might borrow some coin and get a firepump and hoses into my truck and head up and try to soak the woods...

this is bad news right now, seriously hope those fire boys can keep it contained.

I just hope no one gets hurt, as far as I am concerned the people are more important then everything else including the property.

Looks like things are getting a little worse down there.
Seems that there isn't 1 fire, but now 3.
15,000 people have now been evacuated.

Praying hard that it turns out not too bad.

Thanks folks for the thoughts and prayers.
