We have a SYKCO bushwacker. It's called the DFLE. While the spine is 1/4" thick, the full flat grind and hidden tang make this a light, fast handling knife. The only thing that could surpass it would be a similar blade in INFI.

The Bushwhacker Mistress is a beautiful knife and I would love to have one! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> However, I'm afraid Jerry will have it priced well beyond my reach. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Sure looks like a winner though! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Looks and sounds great. But, Jerry's satin prices are ALWAYS too high for me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I have written two rants already about Jerry's prices for satin finished knives. Once yesterday that I deleted. And now another today that I deleted. I have ranted for years about how rediculous the up-charges are for satin finishes. $20 - $40 is fair, reasonable and worth consider.

I guess I get MORE frustrated about it when money is tight.. which it is for me right now.

But, $200 - $330 up-charges for satin finishes is ALWAYS rediculous to me even when I have money. And with net prices of some of Jerry's satin INFI knives getting into the $600 - $700+ range or $2400 for those seriously inflicted addicts. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Personally, I couldn't even afford or justify satin INFI with Res-C lately. But, that is more of an issue with my BAD finance issues right now. Still, it is TWICE the cost of the CG. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />.. I had hoped for around $150.

I just deleted two long rants yesterday and today and I still just wrote another. Apparently, I can't help myself. I need to move on now. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Sorry. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

Ya'll who can afford and justify - enjoy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I would like one, but I am not going to pay $600 for one. That's a fact. If they make a CG model for $300 or so (that's about what my FFBM cost new with a lot more INFI), I might. Which brings us to Scrap Yard Knives. Thank God Dan made the DFLE. S7 is ideally suited to such a knife. Long chopping and clearing knives need to be tough. The only thing is, the DFLE was "limited edition". That is why I got two, selling one to another forum member. I have used a lot of knives in the bush, and that one just does it all for me. Too bad Dan can't make some more of them for those who missed out. Maybe he could do a double cut version.

I hear what you're saying about the DFLE, Vic. But if Jerry can justify building a whole new model of the Battle Mistress by simply changing its blade thickness and grind, why can't Dan justify building a whole new model of Dog Father for exactly the same reasons?

A 3/16" thick Dog Father is just as different and just as worthy of creation as a 3/16" thick Battle Mistress is . . . or at least it is to me! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> And can you imagine what it would be like if Dan created it in, say, 15 different color combinations PLUS an LE? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

That works for me, Bruce. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I already have a DFLE. And while a 3/16" DFLE would be pretty cool, for what it is, I personally think the DFLE and the Battle Rat are already pretty darn hard to beat.

I think a 3/16" BM makes certain sense, since a regular BM is so heavy to begin with.

But, the DFLE is already pretty light, fast and handy for a 10" blade. The DFLE and Battle Rat offer VERY FINE balances of power vs. handling vs. carry weight.

Consider that all of the following have 10.0" blades:

DFLE = 17.0 ounces
DFCG = 20.1 ounces

FBM CG = 27.1 ounces
FBMLE = 30.0 ounces
FFBM = 31.4 ounces

The FBM's are all BEASTS and very heavy. Honestly, I would probably never carry any of the BM series blades at 27+ ounces.

I would guess a 3/16" Bushwacker Mistress would still likely weigh about 23.5 - 25.0 ounces or so (???) - Still QUITE heavy compared to the DFLE, DFCG and BR - Keep in mind as shown, the Bushwacker doesn't have CBT grooves - So, the Bushwacker would be a lighter version of the FBMLE (not the CG!). And still be significantly heavier than the DFCG and quite a bit more than the DFLE.

I love the Res-C blades for chopping because they carry so much better, are lighter and faster in the hand, comfortable handle and balance a bit more blade forward and still offer significant power with improved handling. All good traits IMO.

But, what would a 3/16" DF feel like??? It might be pretty nice. Might be a bit like an elongated SOD or Camp Tramp (????)

But, if the blade length is the same and with a lighter weight blade, you start to loose a fair amount of power for chopping compared to the 1/4" blades. As is, the DFLE and Battle Rat balance a VERY nicely tuned fine line of great handling and sufficient power.

And considering (IMO) the DFLE and Battle Rats or any 10" or longer blade is already a dedicated chopper and not much good for many other tasks. So, I don't know if I want to go backwards on power if my handling requirements are already so good as the DFLE and Battle Rat are and considering the weights of the DFLE and Battle Rat are already VERY reasonable for their lengths.

I think increasing the blades length and reducing thickness to be able to add length and keep weight pretty comparable offers a certain variety.

I actually find that if the steel is tough enough (which SR77 IS), then going thinner and longer provides more power and still very fast in the hand. Will slash cut better AND chop better. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

So, I think a 12" - 14" Golok or Bolo or similar blade at 3/16" that still handles light and fast, but longer appeals to me a bit more.

I would LOVE to design a few options... But, my "pictures" aren't wanted and I can't verbally describe my designs sufficiently. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

In any event, SR-77 is HIGHLY suited for such a blade. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

I prefer the lines of the zt bm-e to the bushwhacker, but the chance to pick up an anorexic mistress at factory cost is too good to pass up. I'm just not willing to pay the second hand prices for either of the bm-e models

Love the Ergo blade profiles.
You seem to have very superior taste in blade profiles (i.e. a lot of your faves are the same as mine <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ).

But a bushwhacker will do- a skinny mistress at CG prices would kick.

Maybe Jerry could offer it with options, a la the Tanker and a drop point could be one of the options.
Or even better a spear point.

This is what I put in the Design a Knife Contest thread.
>>> GOD FATHER LE - DF profile stretched to 12 inches of .22-.24 satin INFI or 101, full convex. Come on, you know we want it!

Ever since the Bushwacker was shown, I've been obsessing over the thought of a SY version. While the BWBM will surely be a beauty in every respect, the price will likely be insanely expensive. Plus, for something that big...for a true USER...I really want the Res-C. I have a DDF and it is great. Res-C is awesome for a chopper that big. I would LOVE a DFLE and am on a quest to find one in any condition but they go fast. Just imagine a DFLE stretched a couple more inches, a tad thinner and in INFI or SR101. Who wouldn't want one??? It would be legendary.

Not a g10 fan either or that perticular color.

you mean that particular g-10 pattern or the handle shape? I really like the shape of the handles, but not a fan of that g-10, i like micarta.
