I'm seriously thinking about fitting a new wood handle on my Mutt. Problem is, I have no idea what the tang looks like, and thought someone here might have pics of the tang from a mutt, or even another SY knife since I'm guessing the tangs look similar. I can just remove the handle, but would still like to know what it looks like before I start.

Thanks

would love to see a DM with a nice wood handle. Talk about a collectors item.

Come on, Gideon! I've done a Seal 2000 and Cold Steel SRK, but haven't brought myself to remove the handle off any of my scrappers! I'd love to see a DMDC rehandled with some wood! Just do it! You know you want to!

Thanks, exactly what I was looking for.

your welcome buddy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

now understand if you do it, and make some sweet scales for any of the SY blades
we'll all "oooh and ahhh" I promise, me included!

your blades your right to do whatever with them but....
these are users, made to be beaten, pounded, abused! they were never intended
to be "Perdy" show stoppers but of course you can do it, and we all will admirer and
think it's fab but you/me/any of us can't do resiprene-c, you need the machines
and "recipe" for it and res-c gives comfort and grip unlike anything most of us
have ever tried.

res-c is definitely not pretty, but it does it's job, shock absorption, grip and wear
in many elements, something that is hard to replace.

it also has a lifetime warranty so even if it doesn't last as long as Micarta/G10/wood/other
they will fix or replace it, something I think is fantastic!

up to you bro, good luck and good fun just some food for thought <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Go for it.If it looks half as good as the handle you put on that Cox blade it'll be worth it.That thing is a work of art.Good luck.

It's better to have it & not need it, than to need it & not have it.

I am not sure why a person would want to change handles. To each his own of course. SY knives are users for me, so I guess the other perspective is hard for me to see.
