Well, with the recent sales of Regulators on Blade Forums it is obvious the deadlines are up. It has been six months, time for a modified Regulator.

The Regulator Bowie, it is my all time favorite Scrap Yard Knife Company piece to date. If you haven't handled one you should. If you haven't used one you should. If you don't own one you should.

There is no need to go into the SR101; it is an excellent steel. I'd be willing to bet the man, Jerry Busse himself, would say it is superior to the steels he used when he started the company.

The Regulator handle is the best use of Res-C ever. You can slide your hand way to the back and get a really solid grip with extra lenth for chopping. You can slide your hand way up for more control. A finger on the other side of the guard is very comfortable. Best of all there are not any hot spots. Here is the kicker, it fits very large hands, it fits very small hands.

Many of us ask, "If you could just take one?" Well boys, this is an easy answer for me, the Regulator Bowie.

Dan, thanks for making this one happen! I will be eagerly awaiting the next.

Big +1 to that. The regulator is a phenomenal knife.

Several people have been going on about how it's a niche blade and a fighter and this and that - I couldn't disagree more. The regulator is one of the most capable all-around blades I own. It chops, it batons, it drills holes, it even slices surprisingly well for a third of an inch thick blade.

The regulator is one of the best camp blades I've ever used. I know people think you need a wide tip on a camp blade, but the long, narrow, but very robust tip on the regulator is awesome for doing things like digging into fatwood stumps to pry chunks away, or drilling out holes and notches for bushcraft. Just a phenomenal knife design, top to bottom.

Put some metal in that guard to make it more sturdy, and the Regulator is a dang-near perfect blade.

i dont think the yard can handle another $100+ release...i mean maybe im wrong, but im sure alot of guys could appreciate a smaller, less expensive blade. moreso with the holidays upon us.

christmas for us means a new release, which is all year long. meaning even a new blade big or small but with a small price tag, will be gobbled up by all of us just the same.

so, as cool as id love to own a regulator, idk if many of the dogs can afford it.

now... maybe a month or two after the new year...then maybe.

lets say we actually GET the next release sometime in january thatll put the first release of 2010 in that time bracket. Then Dan could make the Reg the first official yard blade of 2010.

thats just my opinion of how things might be done or should be. buttt im a nobody who just has an addiction for steel.

The new Regulators would be a good one for an April. 2010 release. That way Dan could get his mitts on everyone's tax return checks.

Now, I didn't purchase mine at the Blade show so my 6 month deal isn't up until Feb. 2010 as per the agreement but I believe I am safe in saying that, growing up with the old man's Ka-Bar USMC on my hip I have always been used to the 7"+ blades as EDCs. To me, the Regulator in its current configuration is like working with an old friend as the old friend wishes it could be. IMHO Dan has finally laid the old dog to rest and TOTALLY REPLACED IT.

Too much?

Some great comments on the Regulator. I know the cat is out of The bag, but my contract isn't up for a few months and until Dan gives the ok my lips are sealed. I've given my review and pictures to Scrap Yard, and hope with all the other input the Regulator comes out early next year.

I will say I've been temped to pick another one up on the secondary market even with the markups!

I feel the same way, my contract isn't up yet, so I won't say anything except.

I am getting a leather sheath made for mine because I am keeping it

I don't know what the folks who got it at Blade paid for it, but when I picked it up here in the second round of testing I paid $145 which included shipping.
