The only .308 I have owned was an older Remington 600 (I believe I cannot really remember the specifics). The rifle was very light, ~6 lbs., and beat the snot out of me. I am sure that the very thin hard plastic butt pad did not help much. I fired all of seven rounds through it and was black and blue up and down my right shoulder and chest. I admit to being nervous about trying another .308. I would hope that the m14, G3, and HK91 would be much less painful being semi-auto and quite a bit heavier. Has anyone seen or tried the Kel-tec RFB?

I owned a Enfield #5 Jungle Carbine bolt action rechambered in .308 and that rifle kicked harder than any rifle I owned. I thought all .308's were like that. My SA M1A is a sweet shooting rifle. I can shoot it all day long.

Got this PTR-91 last week. Been a while since I've owned a larger caliber rifle. Loving this one so far.

Have yet to decide if I'm going to change anything. Probably do a scope on a claw mount and a magpul stock when funds permit.

That's a beauty for sure.

The semi-autos do have less felt recoil than the Toasts mentions above. Semi's are fun, but a good heavy brl is more accurate.

This does 1 hole groups at 100 yrds.

Never seen a Jungle carbine in 308. That is too cool. I have a couple of regular .303 Enfields I need to get out of storage. One I bought for 65 dollars and another was a gift. Wish they were still that cheap.

My father had one of the jungle carbines from Gibbs and that thing did have some serious recoil. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Rover, the Enfields you have. If by chance they have South African or IDF markings please let me know. The IDF will have the Israeli markings of the crest or or the Star of David. The South African will have the Broad Arrow in a circle.

Thanks

I check the Enfields when I get them. Still being stored at my mom's up in Utah. Left them there when I went to college, a decade ago. Think I also have some old single shot Winchester shotguns and an M1 Carbine.

LOL...the No5 Carbine does kick bad...worse in .303 with the heavier bullets...the metal butt plate really needs tucking in tight...quite an accurate little rifle though in it's day...I use one in .303 for service rifle comps...and for our Xmas shoots for a bit of fun.

It was the #5 Jungle Carbine and it was a really nice rifle. I think it was Navy Arms. I got it from Roses Dept store back when they sold all sorts of military surplus rifles and paid $150.00 for it. I ended up trading it for a Chinese SKS. Kind of regret trading it.

That was the main reason why I traded it...i have yet to shoot a rifle that kicked that bad. It was a beautiful rifle though.

That is a beautiful Semi-auto 308. I had a cheap saiga that I sold. This is my only 308 that I still have now.

I love it though.
