Gotta say, I’m a little surprised. I thought the thing that made the regulator such a fantastic knife was the flat grind. Am I missing something here?

As far the rest, I guess if there is going to be a choil on this kind of knife, this one looks more usable, but going from a differential to a through heat-teat sounds like a downgrade. I understand price-point may be nice, but I would guess most would pay the in the test team range for a knife more similar to the much lauded test team design. I guess I will wait to see what the final specs are and what the “testers” think of the changes before I totally make up my mind.

I hate to be the first one to be a bummer here, but....

Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed in the new version.

The full flat grind was absolutely perfect on the test team version, and the most glaring issue, the lack of support for the guard, seems to have been missed.

The only way I will consider the saber grind a good thing, is if the knife is thinned out as well. A 1/3 inch thick saber grind knife is just not a good cutter, IMHO.

I do like the new choil, though - aesthetically it's less pleasing than the old version, but it appears to be MUCH more functional. I am a BIG fan of function over appearance, so that mod gets a big from me.

Surely, if Dan went to a saber grind he did it for strength. My guess is thinner stock?

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

The more I think about it, I think the thinner stock argument is more and more likely. At least I hope so. Thinner stock would make it a much more likely purchase for me. The tt version is still awesomer though

The thickness lended itself to being a great splitter, I hope it's not thinned up to much.
