If you can find my review notes on this, I spent a significant amount of time "stabbing" with my TT Regulators. The guard was sufficient.

Also, FWIW, (and no offense to pretty lanyard lovers), I use a simple loop lanyard (or "D-guard" when possible) to PREVENT my hand from sliding onto the blade during "stabbing". I use a lanyard for that purpose and for retention instead of decoration or to pull the knife from its sheath.

I like the Regulator handle.

Right exactly definitely precisely yes i agree.

As someone who picked up a RegTT post-test-team, and as someone who is probably overly-cautious about ensuring that my hand does not slide up onto the blade during thrusting, i wouldn't hesitate to take a full-strength stab with the TT (whose guard is less fortified than the new production Reg) into any material in any weather (save possibly an ice-storm) without a lanyard and with total confidence, even if i were much stronger than i am. It's probably the most secure-feeling, confidence inspiringly over-built handle/guard i have felt (short of the Tsuba on my Katana, maybe). And as a bonus, it won't tear up the meaty part of your hand and pinkie (5th carpal/ metacarpal region) like a metal guard - i have had that happen in my reckless youth - although MUCH preferred to grabbing blade, still an owiee. You would have to stab so hard as to tear the Res-C off the lanyard-tube, and drive the metal lugs at the ricasso through the Res-C all the way down the length of the handle-- Anyway, point being, imho it's totally adequate.

We need a 5/16" (or thicker) SR-77 BOWIE!!! (Written back in early '07 -- Regulator Premonition?)

Glad to see the moderators put an end to the silly arguing about the Regulator guard. It was getting really old. Now maybe we can all get back to sane and civil discourse. Well, at least civil!

Long live the Yard!

So let's return to the topic at hand and move past this nonsense.

To Reg or Dereg? That is the question!

Dan

Both

+1 If anything I'll keep one and sell one but I want to try both. Who am I kidding, I'll probably keep both styles and try to get a TT also.
