Nice day in Connecticut, sunny and cool and i was able to get out with a few knives- 2 of which haven been neglected since i got my kukri.

Just did a short hike and played for a few minutes, but figured I'd snap a few shots and post.

Here are both at 10 chops. Took the CT 29 to get through and the Dereg 32. Think I need to find the sweet spot with the Dereg though. Some chops bit DEEP and it made me think the CT was going to get smoked. With practice, I think I'll do better with it.

The bigger handle was comfy and I liked being able to move my grip around. Did end up with a blood blister which surprised me. I've chopped plenty with the CT and Battle Rat with no problem. Don't know if he culprit was the S5 or the Dereg, but there was only one pick to cut it open. The pointy Dereg! Couldn't even feel it cut me...

Batoned a little. I liked the handle on the Dereg more but the CT was easier in general...I assume b/c of the thickness difference. Got the Tramp in at a poor angle and beat on the tip good. I wondered a bit about the Dereg tip and did give a few good smacks, but not like I did with the Tramp. Just felt more confident with the beefier tip! Did a little wood shaving and both worked nicely although the thickness worked against the Dereg. I little drilling....easy to guess which was better!

I don't recall the weights on these 2, seemed to me the Dereg was closer to my Battle Rat though...it's clearly heavier than the CT. Gonna take a lot to knock the Camp Tramp of it's perch as my favorite blade. My HI kukri is pretty close and I figure a kukri by dan would do the job! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Nice RN <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />- the CT is an excellent camp knife for sure. I have stabbed with both- I should say all three and the Regs and TT reg have a better " power thrust" IMO.In other words they are a prefered " stabber / slicer/ comabt/ defense type knife" .I still want a report from someone that takes one " pig stickin" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> . Awesome. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Thanks Again for sharing <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Forgot to add- no res c was harmed during the batonning of these knives <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Seriously though, I don't really see the danger/worry for it. There's plenty of blade to baton with, the choil is nicely sized as well...think you would need to be working on a big ol' log...

I strayed for a while, but after almost three years, decided to get another Tramp. I'm anxious for it to arrive.

Here's a pic of my old one.
