made this marlinspike today in the old mans school shop forge. Basic steel, drawn down to a taper point and curved slightly, then ground the handle area square. Smoothed and polished with 400, 800, 1000 and 1200 grit 3m autobody paper, and then wiped clean with solvent / rag and waxed with beeswax and a rag.

its big and beefy, for pushing/wedging/prying open tough braided ropes or working knots loose.

yep, drilled out the scales to match the factory holes in the frame

I've been tempted to mod some of my folders too. I don't have the guts or the skill to try it.

Why did you drill the G10? It can't save much on weight? Looks like you sanded the DLC coating too. Good job on the spike. It looks cool. Medieval even.
