Just got a sweet bushcraft axe. The handle has a linseed oil finish on it, but I don’t know how long that will last in the wet NW. Anyone know of a good sealer for the handle?

Linseed oil is used on cutting boards so it should be ok on the axe handle.

Plus trying to get a sealer to stick over the oil probably won't work.

IF you keep it oiled fairly regularly it should be ok. Try it and see what happens.

Lemon oil might work well too. Its the same oil in most furniture polishes that helps your wood furniture from getting moisture.

OK, kind of a dumb question but what is a bushcraft axe? Got any pics. I have been hoping the yard here would come up with some sort of small axe or hatchet.

me to skorpyd, I would love to see a handle-less ax and/or tomahawk head from the yard.

If you want to see some ALMOST handle less axes, check out SnotPigs stuff.

I checked out SnotPig's stuff. Great axes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />! Looks very well made and useful. I love the micromini snatchet. Great looking knives too!!

Thanks for the tip.
