We probably won't have all the pretty a fall here, been to dry. BUT we have hopes. There's a couple drives that we go on this time of the year hopeing for some beautiful fall colors. It's out through the "hills", no mountains around here!

Been dry here too, but hoping for some color on the mountainsides.

Thats' the side of Grandfather Mountain, my favorite place in the world, at least as far as I've traveled. It's beautiful in all four seasons.

There's a lake at the foot of the mountain that my wife and I go camping and fishing at pretty often. I told her the last time we were up there that I wanted my ashes scattered at the lake. Can't think of a more beautiful place to put them.

When I left Pope AFB I took 401 North to Raleigh then hit I40 west. Is the Mountain on those roads?

Grandfather is just south of Boone/Blowing Rock. The lake we stay at is Price Lake, right on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

We're about an hour away, so we can make it up there pretty much anytime we want to.

SO, that makes it North and East of Raleigh?
