I've often thought the same thing, IF it happens first call is to Patty. Load up the guns/ammo and knives/swords and get here! Should be able to do that. I come to work armed, hopefully it's enough to get me home in case of a bad time. Shouldn't be a problem, I only live 5 miles away. I could walk that cross country if need be. But once I get home I'll be ok.

I live out in the woods at the end of a dead end road. Nobody would come out there unless they're coming for a reason. We have a spring at the bottom of the hill and plenty of hunting area behind us. Plus Mom cans plenty of vegetables every year, and she just lives 1/4 mile down the road.

You know I have often times wondered how far I would truely go if someone hurt Patty. Oh I know that if I got my hands on them one way or the other they would be in for a beating. But what if Someone kidnapped her and I found out where they were holding her. Would I KILL to get her back from them, or if they killed her, would I hunt them down like the vermin they are. I want to say YES I WOULD. And there is a very good chance I would, I have been known to not be to sane at times when I really get my dander up.

I think I'd do ok if the world just completely went crazy, at least for a long while. Me personally, I'd be fine for a looooong time, but my wife probably wouldn't be.

Sounds like your road may be easy to camouflage and that would help deter any undesireables.

Or drop a tree across it and it's closed pretty good. AND I can watch all the way from the cable to the house, all of about 300 yards. I believe I could hold someone off from that range with the .243 or the .06 <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Patty is a hill girl. She grew up poor and knows how to "make do". But as she tells folks now that she's "moved to town" she's gotten used to her creature comforts! Oh did I mention she can shoot and she's very accurate.

I had thought about a cable. Make sure it's rusty and sort of loose and kinked up a bit and put some brush in the road after it to make it look like no one has been there for a while. Jared once said his Dad had a nice "fall back" place to go to if ever needed.

Not only can my wife not shoot, she is terrified of guns. She won't even handle one to hand it to me. I don't know how she got that, her dad is a gun nut and she was married to a fellow that is the gun counter guy at a local pawn shop. Can't figure her out sometimes...
