question guys, I was at the range the other day, and I found that if I didn't stand there and aim slowly, as in I would just quickly aim and fire, my shots were dead on, and I mean hitting exactly where I wanted, but if I took my time and did slow trigger pulls, I would end up kinda jerking my gun down a bit, almost pre anticipating the recoil, is there any tricks to combat this, or is it just a practice thing?

It's called a flinch. Hard habit to break once you have it. It's just anticpation of the recoil. Lot of it is overthinking things, as you explained.

Have someone load snap caps or empties in your gun at random and you'll see when you do it. When you get to the point that you don't move when you hit the empty, you're over it. I still do it sometimes, and I've been shooting for 40 of my 44 years.

Serously, although I have jumped off into the deep end a couple times, if it wasn't for all good company that is on here I wouldn't be even Half way to where I have gotten to.

And Tom had me whupped like a little puppy for quite a long time! I Will ALWAYS show homage to Tom, Chris, Horn Dog and the other that have been here since the beginning or soon there after.

Thank you everyone for allowing me to reach this milestone in my life. To you, all my friends I <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> and again say thank you.

Yup, don't think about it, just gently squeeze and keep both eyes open if you can. I've been shooting so long with one eye closed that I can't focus with both of them open now.

Slow is smooth, smooth is fast! And I agree with Randy, shoot with both eyes open if you can. Unless you're shooting precision, you'll pick up targets better with both eyes open and it won't hurt your accuracy.

whats funny is my shots where hitting below the point I was aiming at, at first I thought it was the gun, then I noticed what I was doing, it was pretty crazy involuntary action

You were involuntarily pushing against the anticpated recoil, causing you to shoot low.

Somewhere out there is a target that is set up to show what is causing your misses. Too much trigger pressure, recoil anticpation, etc. I'm googling it now, but on dial up it may take a few min

I'm glad I noticed it before I had been doing it for awhile or blaming it on the gun, it seemed to start after about the first 50 rounds
