I love S7. I love looking at SR-77 and imagining how it will perform (snagged a Dogfather for a penpal and it sits in its sheath waiting for its daddy to get back in the saddle). For reason, though, I blister easily when using Res-C and only slightly when using micarta.

Any chance of a Scrapyard knife having micarta scales?

Same here, but I bruise easily when using micarta, and only slightly when using resiprene C.

(I have no idea whether SYK will be making micarta handled knives. I'm guessing that the answer is that they will, if they get the scraps. However... if I'm not mistaken... the labor costs in a well finished micarta handle are higher than a res c handle. For a company where price point is a significant factor in product development, they may find micarta handled knives a less compelling product line to bring to market. Then again, I recall the splendid bowie Dan made a few years ago, and I would not be surprised if the yearnings of the artisan in him lead to some micarta handled cutlery, regardless of the other factors.

So... umm... I'll guess "maybe".)

I like Respirine C much better than micarta in a chopping knife. In smaller knives, either one will do. A DFLE with micarta scales would look awesome. But it would probably cost at least $300 and not be as effective for me. Let Swamp Rat make it. The Res C handles are what keeps the prices reasonable at SYKCO, IMO.

For chopping lots of hard woods.. Res-C all the way!
..if i don't wear gloves i get a little blister too, but it's better than the ringing Shock to the bones while chopping w/ micarta, wood, bone handles!

For zombie air chopping & practicing my mall ninja moves.. i like Micarta.

In another thread we were comparing SwampRat Res-C vs Micarta prices..
and found the price difference to be +$40 to $90 for Micarta.

i like both.. depends on what knife it's on & what i'm using it for.

Oh my. Forget I asked. Also, the res-C will keep the knives more tip-heavy, so my bad.

I think that part of the cost effectiveness of Scrapyard is based on Res-C handles.

Swamp Rat and Busse are going to be doing the micarta handled knives almost exclusively I'd guess

I have no objection to this however. I really like the res c handles on all my knives, including the mudder and the busse basic handles.

Yeah, I think about micarta and then ask these questions:
Will it improve performance?
What will it do to the price?

Given then it will increase price and not performance, I just don't think it would follow Dan's knife beliefs!

I like res-c though!

I like both. If SY makes them like Swamp Rat I would get one. But the Res C is something different compared to the Busses and that is what I like too.

On a micarta note, I had a weak moment and ordered another Badger today. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> / <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> / <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

After receiving my Lep warden, I fell in love with the OD green blade. It looks amazing! So along with my LE I also have an OD blade with mag black canvas micarta coming. Wheeee....

Right, CO. It was the green blade that made you do it............or the devil and magnum scales!

My thoughts on Thom's question are; micarta on little ones (under 5") if Dan must, but this should be the nearly exclusive home of res-C. Let Jerry and Eric get their handles wrong- not Dan!
