Yes they are. I collected the Nagants very heavy for about 8 years and then sold them all off after my wife was hit by an 18 wheeler. I still kept up with them but never to the level (over 40) Nagants I had. This is the first Nagant I have seen with this stock splice--that is from the time working in a surplus store, a few big importers in OH, gun shows, pawn shops, privates sales etc. A good buddy that is a hard core collector says he has only seen three and he owns only one. Go figure, right place at the right time.

10 hrs, healthy but managable with ease of two people. I am use to making a straight shot to Chicago. Once drove straight through to Pittsburgh (2 of us) and mostly back by myself. My bro and I are thinking a end of July early Aug trip before school starts.

I usually drive the whole time so I try not to drive any more than 12 hours without a healthy break.

It is about the same place as the Finn's did their splice--that is what is so confusing about the pieces. Some conjecture is that these were don by the Finns but splice is like the pre-war v slices and a u on the bottom. However, of the Finn's I have seen and owned this is none like I saw and there is no markings of a Finn rebuild.

BTW, I will get into Finn Nagants again. I had a 91 Tikka, 91/30 Winter War capture, a couple M39 to include a B marked brl and Valmet, a M27, M28, M28/30, and a Carcano from italy with ownership markings.

Went and got some sandpaper sponges today and I'm going to round My Butt too. Then all I gotta do is increase the length of the choil about 1/8 and I'll have it the way I want it, I think. Then I gotta figure out what kind of leather I want. THIS is gonna be a carry piece for sure.

Still messing with the mouspad/sandpaper thing and it's better than it was. Oh well, gives me something to do.
