He was begging me to keep everything off the record. I laughed in his face. As the luncheon began he was suddenly the quietest man in the room. When I left, after talking to the real VIPs, he approached me again this time with his general and asked me to "please" don't quote him. His general asked me as a favor not to (we have known eachother for a while) and since he is a good man, I agreed not to. But, I didn't leave without a parting comment.
"Sir, I have no desire to quote your aide. When he asked 'if I knew who he is,' I didn't and I am sure no one else does either, so no one really cares that he is a pompous [censored] either."
