i didn't reach jyd status until Dan did the 300,000 patch, i think i did 400 or 500 posts in 3 or 4 weeks.
it was at that time i discovered the death chat.
i have more posts on this forum then all the others i go on combined.
i like the people on here and the forum attitude.
i feel like we all have each other's backs

my oldest daughter was still in a basenet the first time she went camping.
i loved teaching them about the outdoors.

And Yeah Yote, I have noticed a few times when someone says something about a dog others are quick to set them straight. And I actually think we do a good job policing ourselves.

Oh man that would have been nice. When I was growing up we were fortunate to be able to travel around the country,back in the 60's. The man that owned the implement company where my dad worked first bought a pickup with a slide in camper for the employees to use. After a couple years he got a camper and even provided the car to tow it!

Well folks, I hate to run out on you again, but If Patty feels like it we are going to try and go to a flea market in the morning 0830 so I am going to hit the sheets.

funny story,my youngest daughter was in sparks (or maybe brownies)at the end of the year they had a picnic at a small local lake that had a hiking trail around it.
Brown Owl asked if I would walk behind the kids and stay with any stragglers.
We stated walking, and without thinking about I started to talk to the girls about looking around for landmarks so they wouldn't get lost, what to do if they got lost.
I then started pointing out different animal tracks, and plants (what I normally did with my girls)
I found some fresh huckle berries, and went over the never eat berries unless an adult tells you they are safe to eat.
Everyone tried the berries.
When we got back to the picnic area, the kids were tired but had a great time.

The runt usually loves to camp. She has been really whiney aboyt hiking this year though. I'm not sure why.

i forgot to add the rest of the story, after the kids all left Brown Owl and Tawny Owl came up to me.
They were both city girls and suggested the hike just to tire out some of the more high strung girls.
Neither of them knew anything about camping and they both thanked me, because they learned a lot and the girls got to learn a lot.
I used to get called once a year by Brown Owl to lead a hike around the lake on their annual picnic.
Sort of sad when a new Brown Owl took over and stopped doing the hikes

i remember the days of alternating between the girls, one hiking and one on my shoulders or piggy back.
I remember the exact moment when my oldest daughter became too tall for me to lift her onto my shoulders.
