Randy, I was going to say that too in a pm. I was having trouble with connection on the internet and did not want to loose what I had typed. Bug repellent too, I am sure it will be humid so some extra shirts and undergarments are nice too.

I've been around the aftermath of a couple three tornadoes, but a hurricane just literally blew me away, NO pun intended. Just multiply a tornado's damage by maybe 100 times and you will begin to get an idea of what a hurricane can do. I saw F-16s that were picked up and dropped, they were literally broken in half. I saw 50 foot boats 4 miles from the ocean. It WAS destruction.

Randy and I both dispatch for sheriffs departments on the night shift.

I am a dispatcher for the Sheriff's department. I retired from the Air Force after 20 years and I was a Cop for three years. Now all I do is dispatch (and post on a certain website). I LOVE getting paid to post! (I'm like Todd, I work the midnight to eight shift).

Depends on the nado. Sounds like the one in NC was bad. I was lucky as I never saw a human fatality but plenty of human suffering, animal fatalities, and the smell of food going bad in the sun is bad. Todd, glad you have training for it too, it will be as much as a shock. I helped with this one, as many people did. The EMT, fire, police, city govt's all were pretty strung out for a while.

BTW, Randy and Todd are great guys to chat with, especially when you wake up in the early mornings and can't get back to sleep. Nah, they are great guys all the time despite their relationships with the law!

The thing that really got me was the Area Covered by the Hurricane. It was just literally square mile after square mile of destruction. The area was so large there was no "Path" that you could see. The "path" was EVERYWHERE!

BTW, the path of the May 3, 1999 nado was enormous and very long. It was on the ground from Chickasha, OK to way north of the OKC area--literally a hour drive by normal days. Nothing like Andrew. Tinker AFB barely escaped to path, like by a mile. I know that before the nodo got real close they were scrambling to get jets off the ground and to other places of safety.
