Cool, I was just trying to figure out where i should start? I will start at the 8's. HOw do you guys sharpen in the field?

The 8X3 is a handy size as well. When you go bigger than that they start getting unwieldy.

Field sharpening? DMT diafold C/F

I was an electrician for many years and I am guilty of using those ceramic v sharpeners! I know they are horrible for the blade. but when I was stripping wire all day I just needed the fastest sharp I could get. They kinda work but not great. I've tried rods , steels. I'm always looking for a better way to sharpen knives when your in the back 40.

I've got a course and fine DMT folding 4X1 inch hones that I like. But I am starting to lean more toward my Ez-lap Model M diamond rod.

I view field sharpening completely different, I see it more as needing to get a tool back in service without much worry of how perfect the edge is. I like many others like the diafolds in C/F for this task because it makes quick work of a dull edge and is very light so its not a big deal to carry. A diafold some benchstone and some practice and you will have knives sharper than you ever thought. And with diamonds never forget LIGHT PRESSURE!
