While i am posting from my phone I cannot post pics... However this is how is went
scrapmuk -154 vs
swamprat RMD-101 Vs
fallkeniven F1-VG10
blades were used as if I had no saws or other tools to help complete the project, and all edges were convexed razor sharp by myself, how I like them.

subjects: mule deer

both deer were very similar in size
first up the F1... Cleaning was a breeze, skinning also was very nice, I did notice some dulling about 3/4 of the way through the skinning process, And began to separate bone joints, the F1 chipped a tiny bit on the edge, and being it lost it's razor edge it became the RMD's turn.... The ratmandu finished the skinnning, took all the bone joints and neck joint out, and cut the hide a couple times before I was done... This blade also showed chips in it,.. More than I would have liked, but nothing I can't sharpen out either, but both would not cut paper after washed and cleaned up, probably 800 grit and up to bring them back.....

Next competitor is the scrapmuk... Still my favorite blade for this type of work, it cleaned, skinned and deboned the mule deer with ease through the whole process, would cut paper after but had a hard time doing it, so in this test the clear winner was the scrapyard muk...with the F1 coming in second, and last but certainly never least the RMD.

Thanks for the report, fastcamo. I am not all that surprised. The Muk is a great hunting knife, and that Busse heat treat on the 154CM gives it excellent edge retention and toughness. Besides, it is obviously a knife intended for skinning large animals in addition to basic utility. And no worries about rust, either.

Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

I should never said I wouldn't have a use for the Scrapmuk. Am I stupid or what! Go ahead, I deserve it!

Good report Paul - as you know the Muk is my favorite Busse knife bar none. IMO- it easily outperforms my S5LE which is INFI as we all know. Not knocking the INFI- but rather a BIG kudos to the 154/ plus Dan heat treat that Vic called out .For you guys that don't own at least one Muk- grab one whenever you can as it is one awesome knife. Thanks for the report

Great report FC!! Do you have any S30V blades to compare against?

I need to get me a MP or a Muk...the only 154 blade I have is a Wiener

Yeah...the WD has length, but I like how the MP droops a bit more and has more girth

If you can only have one weiner, make sure it's a Scrappy one!

Ishi, my MP has never drooped. It has ALWAYS risen to the occasion! Or was that my weiner? Yup, just checked, my weiner does rise toward the end a little!

FC...help walk me through how you clean out a deer with the MUK. I'm confused by how you use the knife and control the blade to get the job done. I see how it works for skinning...but for gutting / deboning, I'm having a hard time following how one would hold the blade, etc. Thanks!
