Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone out there has tried out the Kydex or Cordura 6" sheaths currently available for purchase at the Scrapyard on the RatManDu's? Based on my measurements it seems these would be a little too big, but I'm hoping someone in here has both on hand and can try mating 'em up and enlighten me.

My RMDs still have no pants and I'm looking for an economical solution.

Live long and prosper.

I know that I have a RMD and think I have a couple S6 sheaths (I'll have to look), but have to get to work, so can't check until possibly tonight. If nobody can respond before then, I'll check, but my gut feeling is that they'll be a bit large. I recall that the S6 is wider, and perhaps a bit longer as well -- gotta go.

Welcome to the yard, don't know about the Scrapper 6 sheath but the small Spec Ops fits it nicely. Good luck, congrats on one sweet blade <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I'd say the RMD would have a lot of play in an S6 sheath.

It's ridiculously loose -- the standard nylon Scrap Yard S6 sheath isn't horrible in length for a RMD, or even in thickness, but there's way too much difference in the blade height. I measured an S6 and a RMD -- the RMD's height is 1 7/16-inch, and the S6 is 1 5/8, so that doesn't seem too bad. However, the S6 sheaths are sized to accommodate not merely the cutting edge height, but the height behind the choil (without binding) -- that's 1 7/8-inch, so a nylon S6 sheath has almost 1/2-inch of side-to-side slack for a RMD.

Think I'd go with the small Master ... the pocket is pretty cool.

You can heat and form the liner to the blade. Wrap the blade in masking tape .... it will give it some wiggle room. Heat the liner at around 300 degrees (not to long ... watch it) then insert the knife and press it between some carpet padding or something similar. I use the foam from knifekits.com.
