I got one of the LE's but plan on getting a couple of the CG's because of the attributes mentioned above. I like Randy use things improperly from time to time.

Again, having a nice fine edge is my primary concern. I understand the sentiment of wanting the knife to be tough, but having a nice cutting edge certainly won't make the knife much less tough as I don't want it to be overly thin and delicate or even necessarily as thin as the LE. Besides, aren't we paying for the super heat treated SR-101 because it is a decently tough steel? As far as prying goes...the thing has a pry bar on one end (which I think in freaking awesome by the way, and is one of the main reasons I like it so much). I guess I'm just concerned that the knife edge will be too thick because most Bussekin blades that I own or have handled have edges that are really thick (even the small ones). I know you guys know what I am talking about because many if not most of you re-profile your Busse knives with belt sanders and such to thin the edge and make it a more useful, while still being nuclear tough, tool. I am kind of surprised that nobody wants a decent slicing edge on the CG.

I do, so that is why I bought some of the LEs. Like it was said above, let the people who want a thick blade buy the CG and those who care more about a slicer buy the LE. I for one (and it sounds like I am not alone) am grateful to have two options...and would guess that the reason why Dan is willing to make such a thin LE is BECAUSE he will make a fat CG. I think we would all be worse off if he decided to have made both the LE and CG "kinda thin/kinda thick." More than likely those like me (who likes the thin blade) AND those who like the thick blade would both be less satisfied. Dan is trying to please everyone at the same time and I'd say he is doing a pretty good job of it with this current idea.

Like it was said before, you will be able to buy a LE later, and while it might be a bit more expensive, that is simply what happens when one buys Busse; given the fact that you own some I'm sure you are already aware of that reality, it is part of the fun...and maybe a gentle "punishment" for not checking the boards more often/finding out about Scrapyard sooner

I'm glad to have both options too!

I can't wait to have them both in hand to compare.

I am buying both. But, I will not be afraid to pry with my LE in the least. I would love to be the one to post a picture of a LE in two pieces... scrapyard warranty rules.

RC, better read what Dan wrote about the LE NOT being a (TIP?)prying tool. Said the CG is gonna be beefier for things like that.

RC, this is what Dan said, I didn't see the orginal post, this is in reference to what I said.

Correct, the LE is not designed for prying. That job is reserved for the CG model

Dan

I'm glad that there are options. I'm even glad the CG will have thicker STOCK. This will make it sufficiently tough which I want. What I am saying is that the knife can still have a good thin EDGE (not too thin) even if the stock is thicker and the knife will still be tough. I'm just talking about the edge here. Having a nice edge that's not too chunky won't make the knife not tough, it will just make it a better knife. You should still be able to pry just fine with it because the stock is sufficiently thick for such applications, but remember guys...there's also a pry tool built into this one.

The reason I brought this up is that I am planning to buy at least two of the CG's and I'm thinking that they will replace my ESEE Izula as my EDC. I'm really digging this knife! It looks awesome between the SR-101 steel, blade and handle shape, and the pry bar at the end. Just about perfect in fact. I just don't want to be disappointed because of a super thick cutting edge on the CG, which my experience with Bussekin and Dan's description makes me think this may be the case.

What you say!!!The Limited Edition will be like a steel diamond.

The first SR-101 to have INFI hardness. The first necker from Scrap Yard.

A super duty "Gents" necker!

But that Combat Grade necker...stout,fat, prying, root cutting, slit cutting son of a gun!

If you can't find half a chop for that necker....shame on you.

Pretty sure Satan will be ice skating before a necker is offered again by Scrap Yard.

Sumo said it!

Boker,Tops,Cold Steel all have thinner cutting edges.

Busse Family Knives DO have hard core working edges on them unless advertised as thin. I'd expect this to be a Scrap Yard edge on the C.G.

And I'll be busting out of my skin to get one that I can abuse for life!

Peace.
