Sorry to hear that. My truck got broken into 3 times over the years and it sucks when a thief steals your stuff. I wish we had laws like Saudi Arabia where if you steal something you get your hand chopped off.

Hurry, call all the pawn shops in a 20 mile radius and give them a description of any gear you want to get back. I've heard a few stories of people getting their stuff back and the thief caught on that account.

Sucks that you had it stolen, hope you get your hands on the bastard(s) who took your things.

My uncle had his lock punched out on his Super Duty and they took a Kimber 1911. I drive a Super Duty and have been ok but I have covered parking behind my house. If someone is back there I have larger problems.

I do wonder if there is a way to beef up the locks. I personally think my toolbox might be more safe. There isn't an alarm on that though. It easily has 3500 dollars worth of hand tools in it. Now, I wonder if there is a way to make that any more secure now that I'm thinking about it.

There is a product called the "Jimi Jammer" that keeps the lock from being punched out or pryed to where they can open the door. Gonna pick one up monday, and have a new door handle assy. on order.

As I'm typing a 20pager on surveillance for class, I was going to suggest a night vision camera. Often the cheap ones have the infrared visible- it shows as red dots. I'm not familiar with hte costco model.

If the theives can see the cam, they can bust it, spray it, or wear covering clothing, such as a hooded sweatshirt.

Hidden cams ftw! Often having a conspicuous large cam with a couple hidden cams can be very effective.

I'm sorry for your loss. I feel fortunate enough not to have ever had my car or home broken into. I guess it helps that my car looks like poor persons' car (a beater) and I look like the wrong person to @#$% with.

Been ripped off 4 times. Passenger window at work, they got a radar detector and rx sunglasses. Driverside window at a hotel, took the stereo. Had to drive back from Seattle over the pass at night in the winter with plastic wrap around the window opening. Took some slush in the face when a trucker passed me. Once in my garage when I left the door open one afternoon. They got a Mora knife, a cap, and change. Last and worst was a rental car break in on vacation. A Chevy HHR. Rear passenger window and took my carry-on bag. About $800 worth and the pictures on my camera from the vacation. If I ever catch someone breaking into a car it will not end well for them.

I think I'm going to hold off on getting a new car until I have a house with a garage.

oh ya, I have a box on the back passeneger seat with VCR and audio casette tapes, and usually a zipped open bookbag with some books on the front seat. I think that helps send a message too.

Of course, in my area of Orange County, even in new condition, my 96 toyota is bottom 5% of the totem pole as far as autos go, and the LE does a good job at keepin the riff raff pigeonholed in their barrios.

That sucks man. Someone broke in to my Jeep a few months ago during the day. My soft top was a all jacked up from hail damage, I guess they could not resist. Fortunately my neighbor works from home and saw them. My wife was home but did not come cross them which was good. Overall, just a PITA.

We have waves of vehicle break ins in my small town. Sometimes 12-18 year old delinquents, or the usual bunch of small town drunks, drug addicts/dealers. Usually they just hit unlocked cars as so many people here leave cars unlocked. The one time they got me they stole change and a portable satellite radio and left a $ 200 shot timer behind-probably did not know what it was. I called the next day and the sat radio was permanently disabled.

Some guys on my old street were watching a ball game and heard someone going through their cars in the driveway. The beat him pretty bad before calling the cops. Cops are so tired of the guy, he's probably arrested 5-10+ times a year, that they refused to charge the guys who beat the thief up.

sorry about the break-in
sucks for sure

Since the first time my window was smashed
(the crackhead stole my garmin suction mount)
I had Viper alarms installed on each vehicle I get.
The Viper alarm "talks back" to the remote
making it beep if someone sets the alarm off.
So even if you cant hear the siren, the remote sitting
near you will wake you up.
Expensive, but I think its well worth it
(especially the remote start in winter! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> )
