Hey guys, I have my Ruger 10/22 and I want to get a scope for it but I have no idea what scopes are decent and even what power scope I should consider. Can anyone offer some suggestions? I don't want to spend over $100 (I know thats not much but this is just a plinker). I was thinking a 3X9 but now I'm wondering if I might need more powerful than that? I think they are really only good out to 100 yards or so...

Any advice is appreciated.

KS, get you a good 4 power scope and that should be all you need for .22 ranges.

IF I remember correctly, Leupold and Redfield are good scopes. Simmons isn't all that bad and I think tasco has some not to bad scopes. Course I've been out of the scope buying business for over 25 years so there's no telling what's out there that's good and what's not. Hopefully someone that actually has some knowledge can help. I'm just basing my recommendation on my WAY past experience.

I would either get a 3-9 x 32 or a straight 4 x 32 depeding on if you want a little more precision or not. For just a plinker 4 x 32 might be fine. Simmons and Bushnell are scopes I have had good luck with.

I have a 3-10 Tasco World Class 50mm obj that was not too expensive and has worked great. I actually pulled the scope off a high power rifle when it was upgraded.

I shoot golf balls at a 100 with my 10/22 and really like the extra zoom.

If you go 3-9 look at Sightron. Not a rimfire only scope, but some of best glass for $100 you will come by

no advice since I just slapped a cheapo walther airgun scope on my 10/22. does fine for the $20-$30 I spent on it... would still like to see what you decide to go with since i would like to upgrade at some point.

Well, a friend at work came by today and brought me a Simmons 4X12 40mm scope for my 10/22. He said I could have it and that the only thing he wanted was some folder that he could give to his wife. So, I just need to figure out what folder I will give him in trade. He stated it did not need to be a value for value trade. I thought it was a nice gesture. The scope is very nice - like new.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll let you know how this scope works out for me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sounds like you got a keeper there! I don't know how big a knife you're talking about but I have had a Benchmade Vex for about 3 years and really like it. It's strong and robust and holds a really good edge. It's made in china but the quality control, at least on mine, is fantastic! I think I paid $39.00 for it.

Course you could always get her a Small Sebenza. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'm a kershaw and spyderco fan myself. don't have one myself but kershaw rainbow series could be good to look at. I'm sure there's even something with pink handles out there. maybe ask what her favorite colors are. with some ladies a sebenza or hinderer might just sit at home because of how it looks. and the blur might be a little big but they did make a few in different colors. it's one of my favorite designs and if i was to suggest a knife to anybody it would be one if those.

just curious and did a search. both a pink spyderco native and pink kershaw scallion out there.

maybe this one should be asked in the folder thread. or a "what's you lady blade?"...

sounds like a cool friend. nice score!
