Thanks for your service zx. From your coin collection I assume you were/are a US citizen, just curious why you now hail from South Africa?

Hey guys thanks for all the kind words, it's appreciated.

Skorpyd I'm a South African citizen I was contracted by an American company to assist the guys in Iraq.

S-H, I'm back home and it's great to say the least... Being away from home for 3 years really makes you appreciate your loved ones, family and friends... Not to mention how a place like Iraq makes a person realise just how fortunate we are to live in beautiful countries (S.A and the U.S). Sometimes we get so caught up in the nonsense of everyday living that we loose focus of what is important... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Glad you made it home safe and sound. Now say hello to your wife and family and then get the kayak out so you'll have something to eat!

And yeah, we do tend to overlook the routine, the everyday things we have in our lives.

What I can say is that it's nice and heavy and I like the shape. I think with the added weight it should 'chop & hack' rather well. I'm heading off this weekend to establish a pathway down to a river mouth and I intend to put the BG Parang through it's paces...

I've got a few locally made Machettes and Cane knives. I'll post a few pics of them sometime this morning. They are cheap and the steel is not as thick as the BG Parang, but they do the job.
