I like the steel. Only gonna buy models released with it. Please 711 I just noticed if you multiply 7 by 11 it equals to 77, sooo yea.

It's interesting that almost all the original knives were the sr77 but not as of late. Interesting but I like whatever Dan uses.

77 is fine for the bigger choppers but IMO 101 or even 154 CM works better for some of the smaller blades. It's all good!

As long as I can get it sharp and it stays that way for at least a while, I don't mind what kind of steel it is.
Hey DT, If you get to the island of Oahu, you GOT to check out the International market down in the Wakiki beach area.

honestly after working at the store with my friend and seeing sr77 and sr101 i think sr101 a superior steel for all purposes rather it be a big chopper or small knife. It just holds and edge for so long without a lot of trouble.

911 with SR77 but 711 is going into camping knife space. I have to agree with the others; SR101 is better in a knife that has a 7" blade. But then what I do know

I like both steels, but SR101 definitely gets sharper and stays sharp longer in my experience. As for toughness for big blades, check out the Waki. Tough enough for me. I trust Dan to use the appropriate steel for the knife. Besides, it's the scrap yard. Must have been plenty of SR101 lying around.
Horned, dangerous, and off my medication.

Between SR77 and SR101, I would bet money that I cannot tell the difference in cutting performance. I'll the cheaper one. Small stuff I prefer satin INFI or 154CM. Just easier to maintain.
