I love quail hunting, but there are none left around here. I haven't seen or heard one in years.

A buddy has some good dogs, and boy will that spoil you on a quail hunt.

I've hunted rabbit, squirrel, dove, quail, pheasant, Whitetail deer and Mule deer while I was stationed in Idaho but never got a shot at one. The rest have been successful.

I've never owned a decent bird dog. My irish setter was stout of heart but not much good in the woods When I was in college my buddy used to use his little brother as a bird dog, sending him into thick brush to scare up birds for us. He worked for me for awhile many years later and was still pissed about that since he was old enough to realize what we were doing

I've gotten a few turkey now and again, there are far far more turkey now then there was when I first started hunting as a kid.

Good luck with your hunting with the GSP, They are a great dog. I used to own one back in the sixty's.

I've included an old pic taken rabbit hunting back then.
