I just got a job offer in SLC Utah. It's in my field and is a really awesome opportunity for a lot of reasons. I'd be making roughly twice what I make now, and the work would be more intriguing and prestigious.

I haven't given an answer yet because I know nothing about SLC, or Utah for that matter, and I'd be leaving my friends and probably my GF behind.

If anyone is from the area or has been there for an extended period of time, can you tell me a little more about it other than the fact that it has a lot of Mormoms and strange liquor laws?

I know that I would like the fact that I'd be closer to beautiful nature, which is a huge plus for an outdoorsman like me.

Thanks!

Joe Fowler lives in Eagle Mountain, Utah. He hasn't posted here in awhile but he might see this or you could PM him. I think he is still over on BF so you might try him there too.

Yeah. It's just hard to uproot my life so abruptly. However, it would be nice to make twice as much as I do now, and there might be something waiting for me in Utah.

I wasn't really asking anything in particular. Just what the city is like, gun & knife laws, etc.

I've been living in SLC since July 1. I love it so far, but I have only slept in my place for about four weeks. I travel an awful lot.

Outdoors ... well ... they don't call this neck of the woods "God's Country" for nothing. My camera and my guns have been getting fired more than normal here. Got a 6 year old turkey last weekend. Will get around to posting pics when I get a little more down time.

The beer is great here. I'm a beer drinker aficionado. I've had beer here that will hang with any of the ones I had in Germany. Since prohibition was lifted here a decade are so ago, the microbreweries have been popping up like flies on - you know - the stinky stuff. So far Brainless from Epic brewery is my favorite and it happens to be 9 percent ABV.

The people here are pretty friendly too except for the few over the top Mormons who shun me for my beliefs. The rest are great people though and seem to have tolerance for my heathen kind.

Anything else you want to know I'll tell you oe look into it for you. But, like I said, I have only spent about four weeks in town.

Sounds like a great opportunity Ryan; if I was in your shoes I would jump on it! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I know you got a lot of options on your plate but I vote yes for SLC.
There are so many places to go and things to do, My wife's family is there and I love visiting that area. If nothing else the gun and knife laws (including class 3 stuff)are wonderful there and every city has has a decent gun store of some sort, not to mention the KSL classified adds that always have guns and such for sale on the second market.
