Today's hike was my idea of perfect, fresh snow on the ground, temps a few degrees below zero, distance just enough to give me a workout without killing me. If Mrs Pit could have joined me it would have been even better but you can't have everything eh !!!

Snicker all wrapped up and ready to go !

Shame this wasn't at Christmas !

I think this is one of Maisy's favourite hikes as well !

Lot's of tracks around but the soft powdery snow made it hard to see detail.

I've posted this before but for any that missed it, I like to attach a duct tape parcel to some of my knife sheaths containg some PJB rolled in fatwood dust.I find that in bad weather these are easy to pull off and get a fire going quickly rather than opening your main kit up and getting the contents wet.

Here it is pulled off and opened up~

Couple of strikes of the ferro-rod and we have fire !

These burn suprisingly long~

Pretty pretty! Looks pretty great to me.

We might get 3-6" this weekend and I'll be out as well!

Thanks for posting!

Looks like a great time, Pit.

We don't see much of that white stuff down here. Come to think of it, we have so many fire BANS that I don't get to practice starting fires very often

The chief cause of unhappiness and failure is trading what you want most in life for what you want at the moment.

In Austin they only want you burning a doobie .
