I don't have my SOD anymore but here are some weights from my notes.
SOD 17.2 oz 711 14.3 oz scrapper 6 12.5 oz Camp Tramp 14.4 oz
I think the SOD is thicker.
I like the 711 better than the SOD. I always thought it was too heavy for a 7 in. It was heavier than a Dogfather LE. The 711 feels like a pointy Camp Tramp!
Be prepared.......It is more than a motto it is a way of life.

Thanks for the heads up on the pic. I don't really notice any difference in the feel of the two blades, I agree the hump is the only difference. I do love them both and if you don't have SOD the 711 is a PERFECT replacement. The grind is different too right? I also like that the finger choil seems to be a little closer to the handle. Good observation! I would say the 7-11 is an improved SOD, but that's just me. It has a convex grind. And let us not forget, SR101!! Some may consider this a worse option due to reduced toughness...but with the bussekin heat treats, I'm confident it will be nuclear tough enough for me!! And the added bonus of edge retention!!

That 711 looks bl**dy good, shame it's not sr77! I won't buy knives in 77

Frankly, I'm disappointed. 711 actually is SOD, just received mine and I experienced kinda déjà vu. They are almost identical. Different steel, but same handle, same ricasso, slighty different width (711 is a little narrower) and no thumb ramp. And... that's it. Sorry to say, but honestly guys, you did not put much effort and work in this design.

Got mine. Love it. Was interested in the SOD, but this is just as good or better IMO. I have no intentions of literally chopping wood with it, so I don't exactly feel like I need the toughness of SR-77. I plan on using it as a general harder use forest knife for things I won't use my smaller knife for, like cutting off smaller branches, splitting up small sticks for fire. I love the new grind and the slightly more usable choil. Thumb ramp is good to have sometimes, but not really necessary and can sometimes be a little in the way. Leaving it out gives the knife a sleeker, sexier look too IMO. Job well done.

I've compared my 711 to my SOD and they are very similar. The 711 fits perfectly in a leather SOD sheath but is a little "loose" in a kydex SOD sheath.
The 711 has a shorter "belly" (cutting edge to spine). Otherwise, the blade thickness (across the spine), profile, etc is very similar. The handles seem virtually identical. I do like the the ramp on the SOD.
My final analysis is: the 711 is a great design. I prefer the SOD by a slight margin, but I've not yet used them side by side. I honestly don't think there will be much performance difference so my preference is based on something I rail against all the time: choosing gear based upon aesthetics.
Regarding SR77 vs SR101: I've literally beat each and don't see a lot of strength difference. The SR77 seems to be a little more corrosion resistant, but the SR101 takes a keener edge.
