Our own Sykco Squirrel, DogTired! Yup, not only does he slice and dice deer (so many than in most states he'd be in jail big time) but he does ferro rods and a surprise!

He's made me three ferro rods now, to my specs. With Deer antler, and one with an empty 38spl case as a handle! That one resides in my pocket FAK along with three PJCB so I can always start a fire if I need to no matter where I am.

Anyway, Yesterday I got my newest Crown antler 3/8X4 rod along with a striker AND, a capsule filled with the new and improved DT's Mag Balls!

Hehe, that's just short for PJCB with magnesium shavings mixed in with it.

It looks like he shredded up some cotton balls and mixed in some Magnesium shavings and then saturated all that with petroleum jelly.

When I first opened up the aluminum capsule Oh, a good three inches tall by an inch or so in diameter I thought there was to much PJ and it wouldn't light very well. I WAS WRONG. I tore out a piece about half (If that) the size of a regular cotton ball and put it on a about a 6 inch square of a tore up coke carton that I had shoved inside a pile of twigs and small branches I needed to burn.

I struck the Ferro Rod twice and it caught then flared up (from the magnesium) and really got to burning then settled down to burn like PJCB does. That is all it took to get the fire going, I was impressed.

I know that my explanation/review isn't the best, but it's a great quality, good looking fire kit made by one of our own.

Thanks DT, I couldn't be happier.

Here's a pic he sent me, I picked the last one (on the right)

The littler one on the left is 1/4 inch and the other three are 3/8.

Just kidding. I stole that off the internet and have no idea who made it.

On a serious note, great job DT, and nice score Skunk.

It took me about 5 seconds to realize what I was looking at JJ. Is kinda nice though.

I REALLY like the PJMCB (Petroleum jelly Magnesium cotton balls) kit he made up. It works a lot better than I thought it would and with the aluminum container you can always get him to refill it for you!

I think we'd probably buy anything Dan made if he threw Res-C and the SYKCO logo on it
