This is my brothers knife. He took it to the coast for a few days and said he used it to cut vegetables and meat.
Well this is what happens to SR-101 if coating is gone and it's left with someone who doesn't take care of their knives.
This is after rubbing the blade with toothpaste to try and take the rust off.
It's funny I gave three of my friends survival knives for their birthdays(Fallkniven A1, Cold Steel San Mai SRK, and this Scrapper 5)
and all three of them chipped the tip of their knives by trying to unscrew screws .

Some people just don't know how to treat a knife.

Something similar has happened almost every time I've gifted a knife. I'm the only knife person I know outside of the internet. I only gift knives to people that take care of their things and I figure could appreciate a good knife, and I've almost always been wrong. It amazes me how badly people treat their knives.

I'd have given that SS5 a good home...just sayin'...

If anyone feels that crazy urge to gift a non knife person a quality knife, I'm happy to accept all donations of such blades and put them to better use than they would otherwise go to...

Yep, that is what Sat night bulk knives are for. I am sure i would be the same if someone gave me a fine guitar......if it isnt their area of interest, they will be happy as a clam with cheap knives.°

Yeah, that is sad... I gave my girlfriend a 311, and she promised to take care of it, but several times I have had to shout "don't do that!!!" And she is like "it can't cut a stone in half?"
Plus I always fear a trip to the emergency room when she uses it...

I have decided never to gift a knife, unless I am sure the person genuinely wants one.

Multi-tools make good gifts. This post is evidence of that.
