today feels like the past few years... weather looks nice out but I'm stuck inside working.

screwed around and got a old abu garcia bait caster for $20. one of those stailess steel round ones. figured if I got some practice in with this one I could commit to catfish later and go for a nicer low profile.

one thing i know is that I'm really good at backlashing this thing! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Lol, I had one of those old round ones I learned on. The new ones with magnetic drags are uch easier to throw without backlash. I started with all the drags too tight. You loose a little distance but very hard to spool it. You can loosen things up as you get better. If you get good with that one then going to the new dual drag stuff will be like going back to a spinner lol

I figured out early I'm going to have to keep this one tight. played around and decided to give a couple turns. 30 minutes and 50 yards of line later I finally had it straightened back out.

Its worth the time my friend. Much more versatile for bass fishing. Ill be back in a little while. Wife needs the comp.

think you should do a thread on it greaser. maybe get into a few details a on what it took. sure there a couple posting members and maybe some lurkers who would find the info useful.

Yep they require practice but like RG said its totally worth it. OK I'll make one tonight its bedtime now.
