I prefer G-10 scales over micarta though for the extra toughness. Not to say that micarta is a slouch as it is most definitely tougher than res-c.
I've came to the conclusions that I like bare small skeleton tangs like the Scrapivore, G-10 for medium sized blades, Res-c for large chopper/heavy machetes and cord-wrapped tomahawks. Just my preferences after having gone through a couple dozen kin pieces.

I had a mossy green Scrapivore which got passed on to a lifelong friend, I really miss that one.....
Muddy brown has become probably my next favorite with desert sage right up there with it.

I have a RMD LE with black paper. Feels great. It may look slick but it has a good grip.
