Never read the book, so I never had that take on it JJ. It just reminded me of the Nazis. Maybe it was the symbols they picked. But the fact the to become "A citizen" you HAD to join, rubbed me the wrong way. And as I said, I only saw the movie.

It is a lot more complex than I can explain in a few or even many posts. I am not saying I agree with it, but there are very valid points in it. The movie is nothing like the book.

Most always, the movies are so different from the books they are taken from it is hard at times to even remember that it was taken from a certain book.

It may sound hokey, but I think that a good movie could be made from a book I read in grade school. It's called "Alas Babylon". It's about survival and pulling together for the common good. I have read it many more times over the years.

The movie was more about crazy military state fighting space bugs. The book is about a social-political statement that seems way ahead of its time. It was written in '59. You will be, at least I was, shocked how relevant it is now.
