I've got an email question into JRE enterprises (the folks that make that mora machete sheath) asking them about modifying it for the 1311 WITH some loops sewn across for pouch attachments. Haven' heard back yet, but If enough folks contacted them, MAYBE.....

I gave them the specs, 13.5 inch blade, .187 inch thick and 1.75 inches from spine to edge. Hopefully I'll hear from them. Oh and I sent them a link so they could see the picture of the 1311.

The WarDog is my #1 bushcraft knife and now it has a #1 bushcraft sheath:

[Linked Image from i1156.photobucket.com]

The sheath is very quiet being made of kydex, because the knife locks from its handle not from the blade. Dangler keeps it always available and off the way when not needed. The leather for Scrapivore is surpricingly light, good necker!

Thanks Randy! It´s nice to have a grail knife while waiting the Muk re-release...

I checked the secondary market on the jack hammer and it seems to be quite rare and pricy knife. Well, it´s nice to have something to dream on...

The Jackhammer is a really sweet knife; I just wish they would make one with a 10" blade!

I use Kydex knife sheaths 85-95% of the time. I don't often attach anything to the Kydex sheath.

If I feel like I should attach stuff to my knife sheath I strap a MOLLE utility pouch to the Kydex sheath. I do this by running paracord through the rivet holes horizontally across the front. I then attach the pouch to the paracord.

To keep it snug, I'll use shock-cord looped through the rivet holes and around the front of the pouch, then through a cord-lock.

I have been using pouches by HSGI and ATS.

Here's a link to a picture over on Bladeforums.

It's a NMSFNO in Mashed Cat Kydex with an HSGI Mini Radio pouch attached to the paracord with Tactical Tailor MALICE clips. That's two pieces of green shock-cord to hold it down to the sheath really tight (not necessary in this instance) or to hold something else.

The same size pouch can be attached to a smaller knife in the same way or the small knife can be put on the front of the pouch.

After having a Spec-Ops Brand Combat Master sheath, I then decided to use the method described here with the Spec-Ops Brand Modular sheath, which is made for MOLLE pouches. They should make it in more sizes, i.e. for 10" and 13" knives.

Good thread.

Tom, you could sew a few strips of 1" nylon webbing across the front (spaced 1" apart) and stiched "vertically up the sheath" to make a hybrid leather/MOLLE capable sheath. Seemingly everything made today has MOLLE/PALS on it and nearly all pouches are now MOLLE/PALS compatible.

See my post above for how I attach MOLLE pouches to kydex.

This could be done on Kydex sheaths by attaching webbing to the sheath. I would attach webbing by hand-sewing webbing front and back or by hot-punching holes through the webbing and attaching with Chicago screws with appropriate washers.

This could be done by forming and attaching horizontal Kydex strips or with rubber or leather IWB loops

I could do it these other ways on Kydex, but the 550-cord (and shock-cord) is quick, easy, and sufficient for my uses.

I posted these pics elsewhere, but this is my Scrapper 6 kydex sheath from Rainwalker, combined with a leather back plate w/ a firesteel loop and belt loop made by 1066vik. It's very comfortable, the loop is stable, and rides a little quieter because of the leather. My favorite setup at this point.

I think that will work out just fine Tom. Maybe the next blade to go into it WILL be a 1311.
