Got this a while back, and another forum member, 1066vik, made the leather belt loop/firesteel backing. It's a great package and compliment to my favorite blade! Just thought I'd show off some of Jeff's handiwork...

Wow!!! I'm going to need one of those in a 13.5" version!

Looks good. How is the retention with leather on half.

I would have sworn I answered this already.

I think that the leather is ONLY the loop portion attached to a conventional two piece Kydex sheath. In the very first post he said: leather belt loop/firesteel backing.

The retention wasn't overly tight to begin with (because of the Res C and gentle angles on the kydex), so the leather just made it slightly more snug. It stays in well, yet comes out pretty easily. I was a little concerned at first, because it seemed too easy, but it doesn't budge unless you're actually putting thumb pressure on the kydex to pull it out.

That is the case. It's a pancake style kydex sheath that I ordered without any sort of mounting option, and 1066vik made a leather backing loop (I got the idea from BHK's Pathfinder sheath). It's a nice combination of modern and traditional, and the leather belt loop stays stiffer than a nylon belt loop usually would, making it easier to draw the knife out.
