I like the 711 much better than the sheath, but the sheath is unique and I am always a sucker for a good scout carry sheath.

Amazing knife. I'm not a scout. Care to elaborate?

I'm not a scout either, but the very practical horizontal behind the back carry method is commonly called the scout carry. The straps in the middle of the sheath allow you to wear it that way. It is an excellent carry method for any time you are carrying a 711 sized blade in the outdoors and don't plan to sit in vehicles or chairs much. It places the knife out of the way of almost everything, including most packs, yet keeps it within quick easy reach, all while not adding extra weight/bulk to a leg.

It can even work for certain types of larger knives. This is the most comfortable method of carrying my TTKZ due to it's curved design keeping it behind the body, though typically you wouldn't carry a knife that large in this fashion.

Here is a shot with a skinny ash in scout carry.

sorry not a kydex guy.....but still cool.

I live in Oregon and leg carry is not much of a problem. I got the sheath that color to match my 4 wheeler. It rides on the bars horizontal.

LOL, I wasn't pushing kydex, just answering your question.
Those are just the only pics I had available to demonstrate an example of scout style carry. The sheath material is irrelevant.

The scout carry is grea with a leather sheath too. You can give it a try with either zip ties, ranger bands (rubber bands from sections of bicycle inner tubes) or paracord. I carry a 10 or 12 inch machete behind the back. to keep it out of the way.

Thats pretty awesome looking and another fan of scout carry here Spent most of my childhood with a fixed blade strapped to the back of my belt like that. Of course then came the laws.
