I want to give a big shout out and thank you to Fellow JYD DogTired for helping me out with the 1311! It finally stopped raining so I took my 1311 out for a proper test. First I chopped a dead poplar tree that fell across a section of trail behind my house. I wasn't planning on chopping the whole thing through but it was going so easy I decided to <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> BIG chips from this! Axe sized chips. I put most of the smallest pile on the feather sticks and lit it with a lighter.

I should say that the wood I made the fire with isn't the poplar. Actually I'm not sure what that wood is <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />, it might be locust. A yellowish tight grained hardwood anyway....this was a very fun exercise and I plan to do it again soon. The 1311 is an extremely impressive chopper and camp knife! The res c is also very impressive, little to no shock or vibration felt in the hand! This is the first Scrapyard knife I've used and it really is a great knife! Great pics and post! This should settle once and for all why you need a BIG Knife for camping and survival. Great work! The 1311 is big, but not too heavy. It's the perfect all-around camp knife. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

You do better fuzz sticks with that monster than I can do with a 4-5" knife!
